Static Landing Page Hooks for Cold Outreach to Local Trades
A set of static landing page mockups aimed at plumbers and HVAC shops in Lawton, built as concrete hooks for a lean-agency cold outreach pilot.
This one is a pilot, not a product. The idea was to test whether cold outreach to local trades lands better when you lead with something they can actually look at instead of a pitch. So I built a batch of static landing page mockups aimed at plumbers and HVAC shops in Lawton, Oklahoma, each one designed to be a hook rather than a finished site.
The premise
Cold outreach to small trade businesses usually fails at the same point. You send a message, the owner has no reason to trust it, and there is nothing tangible on the other end. A generic "I can build you a website" email is indistinguishable from every other one they delete. The bet here was that a specific, already-built mockup for their trade in their town changes that conversation. It moves the ask from "hire me to imagine something" to "here is a thing, do you want it."
That is why these are static HTML pages. There is no backend, no CMS, no build pipeline. The whole point is speed and concreteness: something you can stand up fast, drop a business name into, and put in front of a prospect the same day. Static pages are the right tool when the artifact itself is the message.
Building for the outreach, not the launch
Because each page is a hook for a specific vertical and a specific market, the design work is narrow on purpose. Plumbers and HVAC shops in one mid-size Oklahoma city share enough that a small number of templates cover most of them. The mockups are meant to be recognizable to the owner, not to win a design award, and to be trivial to clone and rebrand for the next prospect on the list.
The takeaway
Lean pilots like this are worth running precisely because they are cheap to build and cheap to abandon. The value is in the test, not the code. Static HTML keeps the cost of each mockup low enough that the real experiment, whether a concrete artifact improves cold outreach response for local trades, is the thing you are actually spending time on. If the hook works, you have a repeatable outreach motion. If it does not, you have lost a weekend of template work and learned something. Keeping the artifact disposable is what makes the experiment honest.
